Oncallapus (n) - 1. A greater demon from the depths of hell. Noted for its perverse pleasure to alter the daily life of mortals. Works through minor minions known as Bleepelots, vile small rectangular shaped entities known for the constant attention needs, annoying siren call, and tickling vibrations.

It was the Oncallupus demon that finally pushed me out of the IT field as a tech. The pain-to-reward ratio dictated that enough was enough.
Or, more simply, I couldn't do that crap any longer.
Hope things improve.
Oncall at my 'new' job isn't really that bad. It has been just extra stressful for me because the UNIX team here also supports VMS, which I know next to nothing about and I have the lucky knack of having oncall on bad VMS weeks.
We are also working on lightening the oncall load during the day, which is the other stressful time because being oncall means you are removed from getting project work done.
It is getting better, just have a bad week now and again.
