I remember that day like it was yesterday.
GG and I ended up going out for a dinner to a local steakhouse to just talk. When the waitress walked over we said "Have you heard the news?"
She favored us with a disinterested stare.
"What news?" she asked.
"Paul Wellstone just died in a plane crash," I said.
She blinked. "Oh," she said. "Do you guys know what you want to drink?"
"He was a senator," GG pressed. She wasn't going to let this one lie.
"Yeah," the waitress said. "I'm voting for the other guy."
We nearly walked out. Instead we got our food, ate, and left.
The waitress didn't get a tip.
